The Supreme Court Delivers Win To The Republicans

A lawsuit against Kansas’s freshly designed congressional map was shot down by the Supreme Court, delivering Republicans a win as the 2024 election approaches. In an unsigned judgment, the justices ruled against a group of Kansas voters who had appealed a lower court’s decision to uphold the Republican-drawn congressional map.

An earlier ruling by a state trial court had invalidated the map on the grounds that it had been drawn in a way that unfairly targeted minority votes on the basis of race. The map divided Wyandotte County, where Kansas City is located, and the opponents argued that this prevented minorities from continuing to pick their candidate of choice.

Nevertheless, the state argued that the changes were necessary in order to respond to the population growth in the area, as stated by The Hill. Kansas argued back that the map was legal and did not include discrimination of any kind. According to Breitbart, a new McLaughlin survey released on Thursday shows that the former president leads President Joe Biden by five points in a hypothetical matchup in 2024.

The poll found that 48% of respondents would vote for the ex-president, while 43% would vote for President Biden. There has been an increase in Trump’s popularity among Republicans. His score has gone up by 19 points since January. The bad news for President Joe Biden keeps coming: multiple surveys show that Americans do not want him to seek re-election in 2024.

A new Yahoo poll indicated that a majority of people think Biden is too old for another term in office. The age of the 80-year-old president is a concern for over 70% of voters.

What’s worse is that a majority of Democrats share this view, according to the poll. Approximately 48% of Democratic voters said Biden’s age is an issue, while only 34% said they did not care about the president’s age. A survey conducted in early February revealed that only 37% of Democrats would vote for Biden in reelection. A similar survey conducted before the 2018 midterms revealed that 52% of respondents favored Biden’s reelection in 2024.
