Bill Maher compares Speaker Johnson to Maine shooter

The host of “Real Time,” Bill Maher, recently expressed contentious opinions against the newly elected Republican speaker of the House of Representatives from Louisiana, Mike Johnson. Maher voiced his disapproval of Johnson’s ardent Christian beliefs, saying that it rendered him unfit to hold a position in a democratic government as a result.

Maher even went so far as to link Johnson to the person who was responsible for a recent mass shooting in Maine, implying that both individuals may have mental health concerns owing to the radical beliefs that they hold.

An open atheist, Maher continued to criticize Johnson’s religious beliefs, focusing on Johnson’s stance against homosexual marriage and his support for pro-life policies. In addition to that, he noted Johnson’s support for “covenant marriage,” which is a sort of marriage that is difficult to end. During Johnson’s first television interview as speaker, questions about his previous statements denouncing homosexuality and gay marriage were asked.
